Working in Kenya, Tanzania and/or Uganda you will use ethnographic, human centred, participatory and collaborative methods to document and analyse the data practices of pay-as-you-go solar energy companies and customers to understand how data on the generation and consumption of solar energy is produced, transacted, valued and trusted. You will have an appropriate degree, normally a PhD, in social anthropology, politics or human geography, and typically two years relevant research experience including field based qualitative research on the digital economy in East Africa.
This full time, fixed term post is available for 35 hours per week from January 2018 for 16 months.
